Trainee

Project Manager Trainee

The Nordic Trainee Program is where your journey as a future project leader begins. In 18 months, you'll transform curiosity into capability, questions into expertise, and courage into the foundation and confidence that prepares you to eventually lead complex infrastructure projects in the Nordics.

Show us your courage

Courage comes in many forms. As our trainee, you don't need all the answers - you need the courage to ask questions and the willingness to contribute while you learn.

Håkon Ødegård Bergersen

Trainee

The NRC Group trainee program turned my studies into hands-on experience from day one. It’s been motivating and inspiring — I’ve learned quickly, taken on responsibility, and found the perfect start to my career.

Kriti Mathur

Trainee

The trainee program made my transition from studies smooth and gave me the confidence to contribute to NRC Group.

As a trainee at NRC Group, you'll take your first steps toward becoming a future project leader. Through real-life experience, hands-on training, and exposure to all areas of project management, you'll build a strong foundation for leading complex projects in the years to come. You won't finish the program as a fully qualified project manager, but you will graduate with the courage to take on challenges, the confidence to keep growing, and a clear next step in your career at NRC Group.

Throughout the journey, you'll be supported by experienced mentors, surrounded by passionate colleagues, and become part of a strong Nordic network that will continue to inspire, challenge, and empower you, long after the program ends.

Through the trainee program, I was given the opportunity to take on challenging roles early, which helped shape both my development and my career path.

Anders Gustafsson, CEO

About the program

We are looking for engineers with a master’s degree and the courage to grow into future leadership roles. To thrive on the project management journey, you should enjoy spotting opportunities and finding smarter solutions. You are curious, eager to share new perspectives, and committed to delivering on your promises. You genuinely care about people and safety. You bring strong analytical skills, leadership ambitions, and the drive to make an impact. Most importantly, you are motivated by shaping sustainable infrastructure across the Nordics—contributing to solutions that truly matter for both people and society

What you'll experience

Stepping into the NRC Group trainee program means joining a journey of growth, discovery, and collaboration. You’ll challenge yourself, gain new perspectives, and develop the confidence to shape meaningful solutions for people and society. As a trainee at NRC Group, you will:

  • Be based in either Norway, Sweden, or Finland, contributing and learning on real projects in your home country.
  • In the first 12 months we take part in four carefully designed modules covering key topics of project execution such as tender processes, planning, and site management.
  • Gain a truly Nordic perspective by visiting and collaborating across Norway, Sweden, and Finland.
  • Develop systematically with the support of experienced mentors guiding you every step of the way.
  • Build the leadership skills and capabilities needed to succeed in future infrastructure projects.

After completing the core program, you'll spend six months working closely with a senior project manager on one of our major projects. You won't finish as a fully qualified project manager, but you will graduate with the courage to take on challenges, the confidence to keep growing, and a clear next step in your career at NRC Group.

How we'll support you

From day one, you'll have a dedicated manager guiding your entire journey. You'll join Nordic gatherings with fellow trainees from Norway, Sweden, and Finland, building a network that lasts throughout your career. We believe in learning by doing, which means you'll contribute to real projects while receiving the training and support you need to succeed.

Where it leads

This isn't just a program, it's your pathway to project leadership. After 18 months, you'll transition into a permanent role with a clear path towards becoming the project manager who leads tomorrow's infrastructure challenges.
